WhatsApp Video Call Translator

WhatsApp does not have a built-in live translator for video calls — both people hear the original language. To translate a WhatsApp video call in real time, use AI Call: share a Call Link in WhatsApp and the other person taps to join a translated call with two-way voice and bilingual subtitles, in 100+ languages, on iPhone and Android. Only you need the app.

Free to download · Free minutes included · No account required

AI Call is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta. WhatsApp itself does not currently provide built-in live video call translation.

How to translate a WhatsApp video call

Three steps. The other person needs no app.

1

Open AI Call and copy your Call Link

Install AI Call (free), choose your language and the other person’s language, and copy your personal Call Link from the Call Links screen.

2

Send the link in WhatsApp

Paste the Call Link into your WhatsApp chat or group. The other person does not need AI Call installed — they just tap the link.

3

Talk with live translation

They join a translated voice or video call in their browser or phone. Both sides hear translated speech and see bilingual subtitles in real time.

Prefer to dial a regular phone number instead? Use the phone call translator — only you need AI Call, the other side answers a normal call.

Can WhatsApp translate video calls?

Not on its own. As of 2026, WhatsApp can auto-translate some text messages in certain regions, but it does not translate live voice or video calls — both sides hear the original, untranslated language. Live two-way call translation under half a second of latency is a very different technical problem from translating a text message.

That gap is exactly what AI Call fills. You keep using WhatsApp to start the conversation, then move into a translated AI Call where both people hear their own language and read live subtitles.

Live WhatsApp video call translation

Live WhatsApp video call translation means both people speak naturally in their own language while AI Call translates the conversation as it happens — not afterward, and not as one-direction captions.

  • Two-way translated voice, so each person hears their own language
  • Bilingual on-screen subtitles for names, numbers, and noisy audio
  • Low latency tuned for natural back-and-forth conversation
  • A shareable Call Link — the other person needs no app or account
  • 100+ languages, on both iPhone and Android

You can also share a Call Link on other apps, or move a chat into a fully translated voice and video call whenever the language gap gets in the way.

Common questions

Does the WhatsApp video call translator work on iPhone?

Yes. AI Call is available on the App Store and works on iPhone. You create a Call Link and share it in WhatsApp; the other person can be on any device.

Does it work on Android?

Yes. AI Call is on Google Play and works on Android phones. The translated call runs the same way — you share a Call Link in WhatsApp and the other person taps it to join.

Is the WhatsApp video call translator free?

AI Call is free to download with free minutes included, so you can translate WhatsApp video calls at no cost to start. Additional minutes are available in-app at low rates. WhatsApp itself has no free setting that translates live calls.

Can I translate WhatsApp voice calls too, not just video?

Yes. The same Call Link works for translated voice calls and video calls. You can also use AI Call’s phone call translator to dial regular mobile or landline numbers with real-time two-way translation.

Can WhatsApp translate video calls by itself?

No. WhatsApp does not provide built-in real-time translation for live voice or video calls. Both parties hear the original language. You need a dedicated translator like AI Call to translate the conversation.

Does the other person need to install AI Call?

No. For invited Call Links, only you need AI Call. The other person opens your link and joins the translated call without installing anything.
