Phone Call Translator — The Other Person Doesn’t Need an App

AI Call lets you translate a live phone call without requiring the person you call to install an app. Dial their regular mobile, landline, or VoIP number from AI Call, speak your language, and hear their replies translated back. The recipient answers a normal phone call and speaks their own language. You use AI Call on your side.

Key facts

Who uses AI Call? The person placing the translated call.
What does the recipient need? A phone that can receive your call; no AI Call installation.
Number types Regular mobile, landline, and VoIP numbers.
Who speaks? You and the recipient, with translation in both directions.
Caller connection Use AI Call with an internet connection; check the destination and languages in the app.
Pricing Free download; check current minutes, usage limits, and charges before calling.

How it works

Open AI Call, choose the languages for the conversation, and enter the recipient’s phone number with its country code. Start the call and speak in short turns. AI Call translates your speech for the recipient and translates their replies for you. Confirm names, dates, addresses, and numbers before ending the call.

When to use it

  • Calling a hotel front desk that uses a landline.
  • Speaking directly with an overseas supplier.
  • Calling family members who do not want to install another app.

When to choose another workflow

  • Translating an existing carrier call just by opening an app: start the call through AI Call.
  • Translating an existing WhatsApp or FaceTime call by dialing a phone number: explore the separate voice and video workflow.

What to expect

The no-app requirement applies to the recipient of a regular phone call.
AI Call supports real-time translation in both directions.
Free to download does not mean unlimited free calling; check available minutes and current pricing in the app.

Common questions

Does the other person need to install AI Call?

No. For regular phone calls placed through AI Call, the recipient answers on their usual phone and speaks normally. You use AI Call to place the translated call.

Can I translate a call to a landline?

Yes. AI Call supports calls to regular landline, mobile, and VoIP numbers. The recipient does not need a smartphone.

Does no app needed mean I do not need AI Call either?

No. It refers to the recipient. You place the translated call through AI Call on your side.

Can both people speak their own language?

Yes. AI Call translates your speech for the other person and translates their replies back to you during the live call.

Is this the same as translating a WhatsApp call?

No. This page describes dialing a regular phone number. For translated internet voice and video conversations, see AI Call’s Call Links and voice/video features.

Do I need a Samsung Galaxy, Pixel, or Apple Intelligence iPhone?

AI Call is a separate iPhone and Android app. Check its current store requirements and language selector. If your phone already provides compatible built-in call translation, that may also meet your needs; see the device comparison.

Does this also explain incoming call translation?

This guide covers outgoing calls placed through AI Call. For incoming calls, check the setup and availability shown in the app; do not assume an ordinary incoming carrier call is translated automatically.

Is the call free because the recipient needs no app?

No. Recipient setup and price are separate. AI Call is free to download, but you should check calling minutes, destination availability, and the current charge in the app before calling.
