Real-time call translation for contact centers and BPOs

Your agents speak their language; callers hear theirs. AI Call translates both sides of a live support call in 100+ languages, so one team can cover queues you would otherwise staff with native speakers or route to an interpreter line.

  • Under 0.5s target latency
  • Bilingual transcripts

What is contact center call translation?

Contact center call translation converts speech between an agent and a caller in real time, on the same live call. AI Call for Business takes the call audio, translates each side into the other's language with an under-0.5-second target, and returns translated voice plus a bilingual transcript. It runs on your existing telephony through the API, or inside your contact-center platform through a plugin.

It is part of AI Call for Business, the same real-time translation engine behind the AI Call app, offered as an API, SDK and platform plugins.

Where language gaps cost a contact center

Queues you can't staff

Hiring native speakers for every language you get calls in is slow, and long-tail languages rarely have enough volume to fill a seat.

Interpreter minutes add up

Phone interpretation is typically billed at $1–5 per minute on top of the agent's time, plus the wait while the interpreter joins.

Three-way calls drag on

Every sentence goes through a third person, so calls run longer and callers end up repeating themselves.

Transfers and callbacks

When no one speaks the caller's language, the call gets transferred, dropped or pushed to email, and the issue stays open.

Calls it handles

Inbound support

Billing questions, order status, account changes and troubleshooting, with the agent working in their own language.

Outbound follow-ups

Return a missed call or follow up on a case in the customer's language without booking an interpreter.

Overflow and after-hours

Send calls in less common languages to any available agent instead of a specialist queue.

Reminders and confirmations

Appointment confirmations, payment reminders and service notices, explained clearly in the customer's language.

QA and coaching

Each call can return a bilingual transcript and structured summary, so supervisors can review calls in languages they don't speak.

How to add it

Start in a sandbox on real calls, then go live with metered billing.

API

Real-time call translation API

Stream call audio from your telephony (Twilio, SIP/PSTN or VoIP) and get translated voice and a transcript back. Best if you run your own voice stack or build for CPaaS customers.

Plugins

Contact-center platform plugin

Turn translation on inside the contact-center and CRM tools your agents already use. Priced per seat plus usage, with no engineering work on your side.

Compare all three integration options

Example: a Spanish-speaking caller reaches an English-speaking queue

  1. 1

The call lands in your normal queue, tagged Spanish from the IVR choice or the number dialed.

  2. 2

Translation starts on the call. The agent hears the caller in English and answers in English; the caller hears Spanish.

  3. 3

The agent resolves the issue on the first call, with no interpreter conferenced in.

  4. 4

The bilingual transcript and summary are available for the ticket and for QA review.

What to keep in mind

  • For certified legal or medical interpretation, use a qualified human interpreter. Many teams use AI Call for everyday volume and keep an interpreter line for those cases.
  • Tell callers the call is translated by AI, and follow the call-recording and consent rules where you and your callers are.
  • Pilot your highest-volume language pairs in a sandbox and compare handle time and resolution with your current interpreter calls.
  • Call audio is processed in real time and not retained by default. Ask us about SOC 2, HIPAA and data residency for regulated programs.

Contact centers & BPO: common questions

Do callers need to install anything?

No. Callers phone your normal number and hear the agent in their language. Translation happens on your side of the call.

Which languages can agents cover?

Over 100. Most teams start with their top five to ten caller languages and add more later without hiring.

Does it work with our existing telephony?

The API takes call audio from Twilio, SIP/PSTN and VoIP setups, and the plugin runs inside supported contact-center platforms. We confirm your exact stack during the demo.

How is it priced?

Usage-based per translated minute with volume tiers; plugins add a per-seat fee. Human phone interpretation typically costs $1–5 per minute, and AI Call for Business is priced well below that. We quote from your monthly minutes and languages.

Can supervisors review translated calls?

Yes. Each call can return a bilingual transcript and a structured summary for QA, coaching and records.
